Racism and discrimination

The possibilities for self-identification, however, are limited by the racist ideology and discrimination which exist within society. CHIRAPAQ understands discrimination as a practice orientated to rank and classify human groups on a scale of values that determines how the rights of these groups shall be acknowledged and exercised.

CHIRAPAQ aims to understand this problem and its impacts on society through training, denouncing of cases and investigation. With this purpose in mind, we take initiatives so that instances of racism are made known to the communities, and then to advocate for the implementation of strategies against racism in all areas of political and social business. Similarly we strengthen the skills of organizations and leaders in the use of the United Nations mechanisms for combating racism.

In these ways we seek to strengthen identity and self-recognition.
