The author and journalist Róger Rumrrill is the new president of the Executive Council of CHIRAPAQ, Center for Indigenous Cultures of Peru, after being elected at a general assembly of associate members.
Róger Rumrrill is one of the most important experts on topics related to the Peruvian Amazon, an inmense, diverse and compex environment. His perspective and vision contribute to CHIRAPAQ having an Andean and Amazonian view of indigenous peoples in our country.
Rumrrill is also a frequent speaker and opinion leader on Amazon issues. He has published more than 25 books on the Amazon, in a multiple approach from history, essay, narration, film script, poetry and journalism. His most recent publication is Amazonía, luces y sombras (Amazon, lights and shades), where he gathers essays and reflections on this cultural and geographical space.
In this way, Tarcila Rivera Zea will become the vice president of our association, and Leo Casas Ballón the secretary of Organization and International Relations.
