On summer nights, children look up at the sky in the hope that two stars will collide. When this happens, brilliant sparks suddenly multiply in the heavens. For the Quechua people of Ayacucho, this event is known as CHIRAPAQ – the sparkling of stars.

Those of us who founded CHIRAPAQ, being just a few, multiplied like those sparks from the colliding stars; to this day, we continue to sow life, battling to reassert our culture and reclaim the rights of our peoples.
